Paulina Escobar is the housewife to a prominent lawyer in an unnamed third World country. One day a storm forces her husband to ride home with a neighbor. That chance encounter brings up demons from her past, as she is convinced that the neighbor (Dr. Miranda) was part of the old fascist regime that tortured and raped her, while blindfolded. Paulina takes him captive to determine the 'truth'. Paulina is torn between her psychological repressions and somber memory, Gerardo is torn between his wife and the law, and Dr. Miranda is forced to endure captivity while husband and wife seek out the uncertain truth about the clouded past (from IMDB)

Kingsley's character: Dr. Roberto Miranda

It's also one of my favourites. Generally I'm a big fan of Polanski's movies, as he specializes in creating the special kind of mood: murky, obscure and gloomy, often presenting scandalous images of the most squalid instincts, taking over a human being. "Death and the Maiden" has all these features. What is more, acting is on a very high level. It was an interesting change to see Sir Ben in a role of a villain after "Schindler's List".

Yes I also like Polanski's movies. Apparently his next film will be about Pompei.

I've read somewhere that he resigned from making it.
