In an unidentified country in 18th century Europe, a usurper's daughter has inherited the throne and feels guilty about her family's crimes. She learns that a rightful heir exists but has been taught to hate her and reject all love, and who additionally is kept in seclusion to protect him from her. Spying on his household, she falls in love at the first sight of him, suggesting an obvious happy ending as regards the throne. Quite cool. There was a part in it when Kingsley's character reminded me slightly of... Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Carriibean) because of his attitude.

I've only seen the last half of the film. Yes, I agree, there were moments when it was like Jack Sparrow, sort of. Don't you think he's got a good singing voice? He kind of sings something in Transsiberian too. Very deep and warm. Anyway, I'd like to see this film again next time it is on TV.
