PostSubject: Hello everyone!   Sat Jun 07, 2008 1:24 am

It's a great pleasure for me to become a member of this forum and I'd like to thank the wonderful Admin for the invitation (on youtube). flower
I'm a student of English Literature from Poland and I've been interested in Sir Ben more or less since I saw "Schindler's List" (my most beloved movie) for the frist time. It was about six or seven years ago. Later, as I watched more and more movies with him, I came to a conclusion he's the most talented actor in the world. Nowadays I'm almost obsessed with him. Wink
I'm very happy that there is a place like this one on the web and I'll be glad to meet the other fans of the outstanding Sir Ben. Smile

Hi!

Nice to "meet" you (again)! I'm very pleased you accepted the invitation, as I post so many to so-called fans on YouTube and Myspace, yet they don't join. I'm pleased to discover that I'm not the only one who has become obsessed with him lol!

By the way, one of my best friends is from Cracow too. She and her family have shown me many pictures, and it looks like such a beautiful place. I must go there one day!

I hope you'll like it here!

That's a real pity. I can't believe that people can be so ignorant. Personally, I was looking for a place like this one. Smile

Lots of visitors from all over the world come to see Cracow, it's a beautiful historical town, full of breathtaking sights and friendly people. I'm sure you would like it here. So you may feel invited. Wink

Right now I've finished the general study on English Literature, from Old English up to the 20th century. But on my later years I'd like to concentrate especially on Shakespeare and the Elizabethan era.
I'm not quite sure what shall do when I finish my studies. Maybe I'll be lecturing at a university, but in fact I've always wanted to have my own restauant with a jazz club and apart from the education, it is my issue. Wink

That's nice. I myself study Medieval History, and at the moment I'm working on my Master's thesis, which is about Venice and her Jews, 1503-1520. It's quite detailed and I'm always sure I'm forgetting something, but I'm sure I'll manage... cat

It sounds very interesting. This year I attended a series of lectures on the Middle Ages, but they were concentrated rather on England. You have a great topic to study, I'm sure you'll do a very good job on it. Smile

I thought that the 16th century wasn't considered Medieval??

It depends. Techically it isn't Medieval, but you have to remember that the people who were living in the early 16th century still had late Medieval upbringing. In Venetian history, the early 16th century is quite delicate, as it is neither Medieval nor "Modern". It's sort of in between, in a kind of time frame of its own.

Yes, it is very interesting, but demands a good knowledge of Venetian History and attitudes before even attempting it. Some people sometimes try to construct unique histories by removing the facts from their historical contexts. Sometimes it works but with this topic it would be fatal.

My topic also includes some brief comparaisons with the Jewish community of Cracow and other smaller ones of Poland of the same era.
